I've just come home from watching The Simpsons Movie with a friend. Despite the writers' claims, it is essentially an extended episode of the show, but that's not a bad quality. It's smart, funny and engaging, and feels as if it is a product of the earlier seasons of the show rather than the more disappointing, recent ones. Some of the jokes work, some of them really don't, but, like the show, the movie throws out so many of them that it almost doesn't matter. It's definitely worth seeing.
